Penderecki String Quartet
March 1
The City of Lakes Music Society is very pleased to present the internationally renowned Penderecki String Quartet on Sunday, March 1st, 2:00pm at the Church of the Epiphany in Sudbury.
Celebrating their 40th anniversary in the 2026-27 season, the Penderecki String Quartet is based in Waterloo, Ontario where they have been Quartet-in-Residence at Wilfrid Laurier University since 1991. The quartet’s international performing schedule has included engagements at most of the world’s prestigious concert halls and festivals, and they have produced a discography of over three dozen recordings.
The quartet’s first violinist will be of interest to Sudbury audiences. Jeremy Bell spent his formative years in Sudbury, where he studied violin with Dr. Metro Kozak; and his warm connection to this city has led to multiple appearances of the quartet here.
The program, entitled ‘Leaves of an Unwritten Diary’, includes Mozart’s Hoffmeister Quartet, Krzysztof Penderecki’s Quartet No. 3, and the first of Beethoven’s three beloved Razumovsky quartets.
Tickets for the concert are $40, $35 for seniors, $10 for students aged 13 to 21, FREE for children 12 and under. Tickets can be purchased at Kuppajo Espresso Bar, Gourmet World, and Jett Landry Music. Vendors will take cash only.
