Motley Kitchen Features Bluesman Harrison Kennedy, Thursday, January 16

On Thursday, January 16, Juno Award winning bluesman, Harrison Kennedy, will kick off 2020 for the Motley Kitchen’s Dinner and a Show series with a show that is already sold out.

Kennedy has been described by Living Blues Magazine as “a modern blues master of true substance”  A six-time Juno nominee, Kennedy struck gold with “This is From Here” which won the 2016 Juno for “Blues Album of the Year”.  On it he surrounded himself with a talented crew including Colin Linden, Tom Wilson and Colin James. Since then he has released his ninth album, “Who U Tellin’”, featuring Jimmy Bowskill (Sheepdogs, Blue Rodeo)) and fellow Juno winners, Jack de Keyzer  and  Julian Fauth.

No stranger to fame, Harrison was a founding member and lead singer of the million-selling Detroit soul super group, The Chairmen of the Board, best known for their 1970 hit song “Gimme Me Just A Little More Time”. With them he toured the world, sharing the stage with such luminaries as B.B. King, James Brown, Smokey Robinson, and Stevie Wonder, as well as appearing on Soul Train, American Bandstand and the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson.  He also played on the recording of Marvin Gaye’s “What’s Going On”.

Still living in Hamilton, Harrison grew up in a house filled with music and famous visitors such as Duke Ellington, Billie Holiday and Lonnie Johnson. He spent his boyhood singing in the Stewart Memorial Church Choir.

The Motley Kitchen is proud to present the Dinner and a Show series in association with Northern Lights Festival Boréal.
