With a touching authenticity, five women from the Far North tell their stories. Their voices are those of a generation longing for self-realization, looking to the future, and torn between their native North and the pull of the South. Experience an innovative theatrical form that blends community radio, documentary theatre, and intimate conversation.
This production from Montréal-based La Messe Basse created in collaboration with the collectif Aalaapi, was inspired by Aalaapi | ᐋᓛᐱ, a podcast created by Magnéto in 2018. Audrey, Samantha, Louisa, Mélodie, and Akinisie agreed to share their experiences in this radio documentary built upon their thoughts, words, and silences.
Shows with Surtitles™: As usual, we offer English-language Surtitles™, allowing anglophone audience members to follow along. For Aalaapi | ᐋᓛᐱ, every showing will be accompanied with Surtitles™ in English, French, and Inuktitut. Audiences should note that the words projected onto the screen will not always match what is being said, but that all audience members will share a mutual understanding of the show.
