The Art Gallery of Sudbury is proud to announce that Josée Forest-Niesing, Chair of the Board of Directors for the Art Gallery of Sudbury, has been awarded the ‘Volunteer of the Year’ award from the Ontario Association of Art Galleries (OAAG), in recognition of her transformative leadership.
This provincial award recognizes that Josée Forest-Niesing’s work has significantly enhanced the Gallery’s core activities, and demonstrates the extraordinary sustained voluntary contribution.
Josée Forest-Niesing has served on the Board of the Art Gallery of Sudbury since October 12, 2009 and as Chair of the Board of Directors since 2015. An active contributor to the realization of the Gallery’s strategic goals, Josée Forest-Niesing’s commitment to the Gallery’s organizational and financial development and her unwavering belief in the realization of the new Gallery project have been key factors in the Gallery’s on-going transformation and stabilization over the past decade.
The award was presented November 27 in a ceremony at the Harbourfront Centre Theatre located in Toronto before an audience of more than 300. This is the only volunteer award given out annually by OAAG.
The Ontario Association of Art Galleries is a registered charitable organization that serves as a voice for public art galleries and art museums in the province of Ontario. OAAG’s membership spans across 60 communities in Ontario with 270 member art galleries, museums, and institutions. OAAG runs numerous professional development workshops, mentorship programs, and events including OAAG’s most signature Annual Awards Program.
