SUDBURY STRIKE STORIES – October 15, 7:00 p.m.
Explore our local past in Sudbury Strike Stories – a staged reading of a new play by local
playwright, Rick Duthie.
Local theatre artists Matthew Heiti and Jenny Hazelton perform the 90 minute drama followed
by an invitation to join in the discussion. The Pay What You Can drama plays at 7:00 p.m. on October 15
at the Royal Canadian Legion (Branch 76), 1553 Weller Street. All proceeds go to Legion
Branch 76. Coffee is served and the bar will be open!
Sudbury Strike Stories is told through exchanges of memories beginning in the Great Depression
and ending in modern times.
A young girl, Laurie vividly remembers the 1958 strike. She eavesdrops on the heated exchanges
at her kitchen table. Her memories invoke the stories of her family and friends as we move
forward in time.
As she attempts to make sense of it all in years to come, a tangled mess of memories begin to
change and shift. What remains consistent is this kitchen table, a pivotal location for all strike
What strike memories do we all hold on to? What can we never let go?
