Plein Air Painting in Killarney Park
SUDBURY, ON – February 7– Artists on Elgin is proud to announce that impressionistic artist Christy A. Smith, Friends of Killarney Park (FOKP), and Emerging Artist Lydia Gaudreau presents in partnership, the FOKP Artist in Residence Program; Plein Air Painting in Killarney Park which will be exhibiting for the month of March. The opening reception will be held on Saturday March 3, from 1pm-4pm.
The Artist in Residence (A.I.R) program was started in 2010 as an initiative to connect visitors to nature through art by providing professional instruction. Since then, they have on average four weeks of A.I.R. programming through the summer months and have had 12 Artists in Residence. Every year roughly 400 people partake in the program.
Christy A. Smith has been involved for many years. In fact, painting in the park has always been one of her main passions. In 2017, Lydia was the first emerging artist trained by Christy via the A.I.R FOKP program. Together, they will be showcasing their individuality in plein air painting connecting art and nature together as one.
Artists on Elgin encourages and welcomes the public to an opening reception that will demonstrate the beauty and raw stillness of Killarney Park through the way Christy captures each moment in paint with her pieces. The event itself will run from March 1-31.
Artists on Elgin is located at 168 Elgin Street, and is open Monday to Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
